These test gauges conform to IEC 60598-1 clause 8.2.1, clause 11.2, and IEC60335-1 Clause 29 etc. They are used to determine the shortest path between two conductive parts, or between a conductive part and the bounding surface of the equipment, measured along the surface of the insulation, with specifications made according to the requirements.
