PCD cutting tool blanks consist of PCD layer integrally sintered at ultrahigh pressure and high temperature to a cemented tungsten carbide backing. They have the high hardness and abrasion resistance of nature diamond, and combined with the toughness that of tungsten carbide. Their life are 10 to 100 times of tungsten carbide cutters.

Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) is diamond grit that has been fused together under high-pressure, high-temperature conditions in the presence of a catalytic metal.
