HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is becoming increasingly popular in the application of video and audio transmission system. But traditional copper wire cable has certain limitations in terms of its electrical performance, such as shorter signal transmission distance and worse signal quality.
Therefore, optical fiber is a better alternative, because it has lower dispersion than copper wire. It can achieve longer signal transmission distances and better signal transmission quality. DVI/HDMI extender is then developed, which uses 2 cores fiber without any copper wire involved. It eliminates radio frequency interference and offers customers with high performance, good signal quality and low cost.
The LNK-KHX2240 series is an example of high performance 4K HDMI KVM Fiber Optic Extender. It supports HDMI v1.4 signals with resolutions up to 4K (4096x2160 / 30p) and can transmit signals over distances up to 300m. It consists of an optical transmitter module that converts the DVI / HDMI signals into light pulses and an optical receiver module that converts these light pulses back to a DVI / HDMI signal.
Moreover, the extender set incorporates a TMDS equalization technology in order to prevent signal degradation.
Features:
Real Time Transmission enables streaming of digital video and audio data in real-time. It supports three industry-standard interfaces - DVI 1.0, HDMI v1.4 and HDCP 1.2. Using this technology, resolutions up to 3840*2160/30p, 4096x2160/30p, 3840*2160/60P (YCbCr 420) and 4096*2160/60P (YCbCr 420) can be achieved with high colour depth of up to 24 bits/pixel. In addition, HDMI bit-ratess up to 3.4 Gbps/color with 10.2 Gbps total are also supported.
Real Time Transmission also offers several other features, such as 3D TV, EDID pass-through, USB Keyboard and USB Mouse support, LPCM 7.1, Dolby® TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio™. It is Plug and Play, and also has a built-in EQ (Receiver). Furthermore, its design is mountable and low RFI / EMI profile - suitable for sensitive applications. It also offers a wide transmission range of up to 300m through OM3 Fiber Optical Cable.
