Economic Customizable Push Back Pallet Racking System for Industrial Storage

Choosing the right type of warehouse racking system is essential to maximise your storage space and increase the efficiency of your operation. Many factors need to be considered, such as the amount of storage, the speed of loading and unloading, and whether your products require specific storage.

If you have a lot of things to store and you need easy access to them for quick rotation, a push-back racking system may be ideal.

With stacking racks, the pallets are placed on trolleys and rails. When storing a new pallet it pushes back the previously stored pallet. Pallets can be stored from 2 to 6 pallets deep. When unloading the rear push rack, the operator lifts the pallets off the track, which is tilted to facilitate pallet retrieval, and the remaining pallets are moved forward. The pallets are removed one after the other until the aisle is cleared.

This process conforms to the LIFO (last in, first out) method, since the earlier loaded pallets being pushed back for newer ones.

What Are Push Back Racking Systems Used for?

Push-back rack systems are ideal for a wide range of industries and applications, including:

  • Perishables

  • Staging

  • High-density storage

  • Beverages

  • Pharmaceuticals

  • Manufacturing

  • Automotive

Benefits and Limitations of Push Back Racking Systems

Push back racking system is efficient and versatile, with some minor limitations in terms of available options. They can help you make the most of your space without increasing processing time or slowing down product cycles. The following is an analysis of the pros and cons.

Benefits of Push Back Racking System:

  • Higher density

  • Compatible with standard forklift trucks

  • Pallets move in order of gravity

  • Faster loading and unloading than other systems

  • Easy stock rotation

  • Reduces stock loss

  • Save up to 90% of warehouse space compared to traditional pallet racks

  • Low maintenance costs

  • Can be used with other types of racking systems

Limitations of Push Back Racking System:

  • Some pallets will be behind others, limiting choice

  • Limited compatibility with expiring products

Applications of Push Back Racking Systems:

  • Fragile goods: Operators do not need to enter the racks to remove products, reducing the risk of damage to inventory. If you have fragile items in your inventory, this feature is essential.

  • High density and high rotation storage: Push back racking systems allow you to store more items with better selectivity than other high density systems. If you need to store and quickly access large quantities of products, push-back racking is an ideal solution.

  • Limited space: If optimizing your warehouse space is necessary, a push back racking system is the right choice. It allows you to store more products in less space, while providing you with a great option for your small facility with limited available space.

  • Cold Storage: Cold storage and other temperature controlled storage areas can be expensive to operate and maintain. If you have a cold warehouse, you can use a push-back racking system to store more products and therefore require less space to accommodate your inventory.
