The half shaft (Driver Shaft), also called the drive shaft (CVJ, CV joint, constant velocity joint), is the shaft that connects the differential and the drive wheel. The half shaft is the shaft that transmits torque between the gearbox reducer and the drive wheel. Its inner and outer ends each have a universal joint (U/JOINT) connected to the reducer gear and the inner ring of the hub bearing through splines on the universal joint.

The half shaft is the shaft that transmits torque between the gearbox reducer and the drive wheel (mostly solid in the past, but since the hollow shaft is easier to control the rotational imbalance, hollow shafts are used in many cars). There is a universal shaft on each of its inner and outer ends. The U/JOINT is connected to the reducer gear and the inner ring of the hub bearing through the splines on the universal joint.

The half shafts are used to transmit power between the differential and the drive wheels. The half shafts of ordinary non-disconnected drive axles can be divided into three types: full floating, 3/4 floating and semi-floating according to the different outer end support forms.
