Electrolyzer accessories Anode and cathode cell Inlet distribution pipe for Chlor-alkali plant.
Electrolyzer accessories Anode and cathode cell Inlet distribution pipe is a key component in the electrolysis system. Its main function is to evenly transport the electrolyte or other necessary chemical solutions into the electrolytic cell to ensure the stability and efficiency of the electrolysis process. The following are the main features and design requirements of the inlet pipe:
1. Selection of material
The inlet pipe needs to have good corrosion resistance to adapt to the chemical characteristics of the electrolyte.
Common materials include:
a. PVC (polyvinyl chloride): suitable for lower temperature and
weak corrosive environment.
b. PP (polypropylene): has stronger corrosion resistance and is
suitable for higher temperature electrolysis process.
c. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene): resistant to strong acid and
strong alkali, suitable for high-demand electrolysis environment.
d. Titanium or titanium alloy and nickel materials: show excellent
corrosion resistance in high temperature and high concentration
acid electrolyte environment,we use Titanium and nickel materials in this picture as below:
2. Structural design
a. Flow uniformity: The distribution of the inlet pipe should
ensure that the electrolyte enters the electrolytic cell evenly to
prevent the local concentration from being too high or too low and
affecting the electrolyte volume.
b. Pressure control: A reasonable inlet pressure should be designed
to avoid uneven deposition or excessive turbulence inside the
electrolytic cell caused by too fast or too slow flow rate.
c. Anti-blocking design: Use reasonable apertures and filtering
devices to prevent impurities from entering the pipeline and
affecting the flow of the electrolyte.
d. Temperature resistance: The operating temperature of the
electrolyte needs to be considered to ensure that the material will
not deform or age due to excessively high temperature.
3. Installation and maintenance
a. The inlet pipe is usually connected to a circulation pump or a
liquid storage tank to ensure a continuous supply of electrolyte.
b. The pipe should be easily disassembled for daily cleaning and
maintenance.
c. A pressure sensor or flow meter should be installed to monitor
the inlet volume to prevent the electrolysis effect from being
affected by abnormal inlet volume.
d. Some high-end systems are equipped with automatic adjustment
devices to dynamically adjust the inlet volume according to the
liquid level and concentration in the electrolytic cell.
Electrolytic cell anode half shell :
The main purpose of the electrolytic cell anode half shell is to serve as part of the anode during the electrolysis process, and it mainly plays the following roles:
Current distribution: The anode half shell helps the current in the electrolytic cell to be evenly distributed to ensure that the electrolysis reaction occurs evenly and promote the improvement of product quality.
Protect and extend the life of the anode: The anode half shell is usually made of corrosion-resistant materials, which can protect the anode body from corrosion by the electrolyte, thereby extending the service life of the anode.
Structural stability: The anode half shell increases the mechanical strength of the anode, ensuring that the anode can remain stable during the electrolysis process and avoid deformation or damage.
Anode half shells are usually used in the extraction process of electrolytic copper, aluminum and other metals to improve production and efficiency through stable electrochemical reactions.
