Overview

Francis turbine employs a runner through fixed buckets generally nine or more. The water is introduced overhead the runner and all over it and then falls over initiating the spin. Other significant components are wicket gates, scroll cases, and draft tubes beside the runner. Francis turbine supports the inward radial water flow. In the advanced Francis turbines, the flow enters inward radially but exits in a parallel direction and is termed as mixed flow.
