PTFE demister characteristics:


The mechanical properties of polytetrafluoroethylene are relatively soft. It has very low surface energy. Polytetrafluoroethylene has a series of excellent performance:

  1. High temperature resistance: long-term use temperature 200 ~ 260 ℃;
  2. Low temperature resistance: soft at - 100 ℃;
  3. Corrosion resistance: resistant to aqua regia and all organic solvents;
  4. Weather resistance: the best aging life of plastics;
  5. High lubrication: with the minimum friction coefficient of plastic (0.04);
  6. Non adhesion: having the minimum surface tension in solid materials without adhering to any substance;
  7. It has physiological inertia, excellent electrical performance, and is an ideal C-class insulation material. A thick layer of newspaper can block 1500V high voltage; it is smoother than ice.

PTFE demister application:


  • Reduce loss of valuable chemicals: demister pads markedly cut glycol, amine, or solvent consumption in absorption and regeneration towers.
  • Increase throughput capacity: demister pads allow a significant increase in throughput anywhere gases and liquids come into contact in process equipment.
  • Improve product purity: demister pads prevent contamination of side draws and overheads in refinery atmospheric and vacuum towers and other distillation columns.
  • Minimize contamination: demister pads can prevent the poisoning of expensive downstream catalysts or provide boiler feed water quality condensate from evaporator overheads.
  • Provide equipment protection: demister pads protect turbine, blower, and compressor blades, which can eliminate serious maintenance problems.
  • Reduce air pollution: demister pads help diminish droplet emissions to environmentally acceptable levels.

PTFE demister efficiency:


When properly designed demister pads can give efficiency up to 99.9% with minimal pressure drop. Normally demister pads can remove droplets down to 5 microns and lower with a free volume of up to 99% and a surface area of up to 1940 m2/m3. Due to high value of free volume the pressure drop across the demister pad is sufficiently low in most applications.
