Trip Overview
Mt. Everest Base Camp Trek has been a popular destination for
trekkers since the very first expeditions to the Nepalese side of
Everest in the 1953. A trek designed to get you real close-up to
the base of Mt. Everest (The highest mountain on earth, mother
goddess of the world)
The Everest Region is located in the northeast of Nepal and
protected by Sagarmatha National Park. The trek starts with 30
minutes flight from Kathmandu, the best mountain flight on planet.
The second you reached at Namche Bazaar (entry gate of Everest
region), with one extra day at Namche Bazaar we proceed to
Tangboche it has biggest monastery in this region with beautiful
paintings, you will see monks are chanting and praying, you will
have great views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Towache, Mt.
Lhotse and more. We then follow quite easy walk through birch and
rhododendron forest unless we cross the suspension bridge in Imja
Khola and slightly climb up to Pangboche then to Dingboche. After
one more rest day we continue walking to Thukla and then to
Lobuche. About 3 hours walk from Lobuche takes you to Gorakshep
(5167m) which is highest point you will sleep on this trek. Next
day with early wake up you will have chances to climb up to
Kalapathar (5545m) which offer fantastic views of Everest and
khumbu glacier. You will enjoy different feelings on your way back
to Lukla with different shape of mountains.
Detail Itinerary
Day 01: Kathmandu (1400m)
Pick up then Transfer to hotel and handle check in. Short briefing
that afternoon followed by orientation walk. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Sight seeing:
Around Kathmandu valley: The holy place of Pashupatinath temple,
Shoyambhunath temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Kathmandu Darbar
Square), arrange the necessary permit for Trekking and Climbing.
Overnight at Hotel. Day
Day03: Morning fly to Lukla (2800m)
The 30 minutes flight gives you excellent views of high mountains
ranges and beautiful valleys. Same day we trek about 3 hrs to
Phakding (2600m) passing through many Sherpa village and great view
of the Kusum Kangru (6369m). Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m)
Walking about 6 hrs. Situated in an amphitheatre, the capital of
Khumbu towers above the two great valleys Dudh Kosi and Bhote Kosi.
We pass through several villages and beautiful valley along the
Dudh Kosi River. As we reached to the Manjo (2800m), we have to
check our National Entry Permit at their office. Overnight at lodge
/ camp.
Day 05: Namche Bazar.
Acclimatization day which gives us time for a sightseeing tour or
an excursion towards the village of Thame or Khumjung, which has
fantastic views of Mt. Thamserku (6608 m), Ama-Dablam (6856 m), Mt.
Lhotse (8510m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Nuptse (7861m), Island
Peak (6189m), Tobuche (6367m) and many mountains. Overnight at
lodge / camp.
Day 06: Trek to Tengboche (3870m)
Walking about 5 hrs. Our journey starts to walk with sunshine great
views of the Everest, Lhoste, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. Steep descent
towards a bridge over the Dudh Kosi at (3250m), which is deepest
valley after Namche and Before Base Camp and then climb up a
zigzagging path through rhododendron bushes. Some superb mountain
sceneries towards Tengpoche, famous for its legendary monastery,
the largest in Khumbu. Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4389m)
Walking around 5 hrs. An easy descent through woods towards a
suspension bridge over the Imja Khola river, then a steady climb up
to Pheriche via Pangboche (3930m) that houses the most ancient
monastery in the region and continue to Dingboche. Overnight at
lodge / camp.
Day 08: Acclimatization day.
Explore to the Chhukung Village. Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche (4910m)
Walking about 5 hrs. The trail starts from the easy walk but is
little bit difficult walk cause of high altitude. After 3 hrs
walking distance, the trail starts to climb up to the Memorial Camp
and continue to Lobuche. views of many mountains including Nuptse,
Pumori (7165m), Khumbu Ice Fall etc. Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 10: Early morning trek to Gorakshep (5160m)
Walking around 3 hrs and same day trek to EBC (5362m), waking
around 5 hrs then back to Gorakshep. Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 11: Trek to Pheriche (4240m)
About 6 – 7 hrs.Morning climb up to Kala Pathar (5545m / Best view
point) and trek down to Pheriche. Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 12: Trek back to Namche (3440m)
Walking around 5-6 hrs. Overnight at lodge / camp.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla (2830m
Walking about 6-7 hrs. Quite long walk but easy. Overnight at
lodge.
Day 14: Fly back to Kathmandu.
Free day for shopping. Overnight at hotel.
Day 15: Departure transfer to airport for final departure to onward
destination.
