ASTM B777 WNiCu Grounded Heavy Tungsten Alloy Electrode

Heavy Tungsten Alloy Electrode is a tungsten base alloy material (tungsten content is generally 80% to 98%) and a small amount of nickel, iron, copper, cobalt, molybdenum, chromium and other elements. The density of high specific gravity tungsten alloy can reach 15.20~18.70g/cm3, also known as high specific gravity tungsten alloy or high density alloy material. Because tungsten alloy weighs more than twice as much as steel.

Heavy Tungsten Alloy Electrode Picture:

What is Heavy Tungsten Alloy Electrode?

  • Heavy tungsten alloys are mainly divided into two series: nickel-iron, nickel-nickel, nickel-copper, and even tungsten. In contrast, o-Ni-Fe alloy has good mechanical properties and plays an important role in various fields of national defense industry and national economy. It is a very important new military material in national defense industry and has been gradually extended to various civil industries.
  • The tungsten content of tungsten alloys varies from 90% to 98%, which accounts for their high density (16.5 to 19.00g/cc). Nickel, iron, and/or copper are used as metal binder substrates to hold fragile tungsten particles together, making tungsten alloys malleable and easy to work with. Iron-nickel nickel is the most commonly used additive with a ratio of 7Ni: 3Fe or 8Ni: 2Fe (by weight).

Application of Heavy Tungsten Alloy Electrode

  1. Tungsten alloys with high specific gravity are used to make tool holders, especially boring bars.
  2. The high specific gravity tungsten alloy is used as the counterweight material for the high crankshaft of the small engine of the chain saw for the monthly supply of forest.
  3. Electrodes of EDM and electrochemical machine tools are also made of tungsten with high specific gravity
