Locking gas struts feature a special piston/valve system which separates the two pressure chambers in the spring. If the valve is open, locking gas struts provides force support and damping. The linear spring characteristic curve will provide an even increase in force over the entire range of motion. If the valve is closed, the gas struts locks and provides very high resi- stance to any motion.
