LED trunking lighting systems utilize rail connectors to enable the continuous-row electrical and mechanical connection, expanding the system's application range. These pre-assembled X, T, and L plug-and-play rail connectors offer a plurality of trunking configurations that allow for versatile design flexibility and lighting continuity for large-scale illumination. The flexible trunking configurations offer virtually unlimited scalability for retrofit and expansion projects. However, what is certain is that there are three inter-dependent parameters that control the effect of light on humans. The first is the spectrum and it is well established that the blue wavelengths are the biologically active parts. The illuminance level often referred to as “intensity” in HCL literature, also plays an important part. However, illuminance is always closely connected with the timing, duration, and previous history/adaptation state.

Previous Design Clinics have described different ways of lighting an office. We have also reviewed color-tunable luminaires, albeit quite some time ago. Since then, both the technology and our knowledge of the effects of changing color temperature and illumination levels on our well-being have come together. These, and other factors, combine to form the human-centric lighting, HCL, approach to office design.

Applications:

An LED linear trunking system is a distributed lighting network that comprises a plurality of individual lighting modules with each serving as a uniquely addressable node in communication with one another through a wired connection. The LED linear trunking system can act as an interactive sensor network that provides the network connectivity and monitoring capability, churning out huge volumes of data for intelligent lighting management. The natural IoT adaptability of networked LED trunking systems significantly improves power efficiency, reduces maintenance costs, simplifies asset management, and offers intriguing possibilities for sophisticated user interactivity.

There is not space here to describe in detail the many aspects of GULGOR design. In essence, the idea is to synchronize the lighting with our circadian rhythms, or even to modify them – for example, using artificial lighting to reduce the effects of jet lag. These techniques are often described as biodynamic lighting. There is still a lot more research that needs to be done especially in actually quantifying the cause and effects.
