The ball mill is the core equipment in the pulverized coal preparation system of a thermal power plant. It is primarily used to dry, crush, and grind coal lumps into pulverized coal for combustion in boilers.

Working Principle

A coal mill is a machine that breaks up coal lumps and grinds them into pulverized coal. It is a crucial auxiliary equipment for pulverized coal furnaces. The coal grinding process is the process by which coal is broken down and its surface area is continuously increased. Coal is ground into pulverized coal in a coal mill primarily through crushing, pulverizing, and grinding. Coal mills are categorized by the speed of the grinding components into low-speed, medium-speed, and high-speed types.

Technical Features:

• Drum mills utilize transmission types such as edge flyer, center drive, and multi-point meshing edge drive. Drive types include asynchronous motor + reducer + pinion + gear and synchronous motor + air clutch + pinion + gear.
• Typically, they utilize hydrostatic and hydrodynamic bearings at both ends, employing fully enclosed, self-aligning 1200 linear contact rocker-type bearings. Single-slipper or double-slipper hydrostatic and hydrodynamic bearings, or full hydrostatic support, are also available.
• Large open gears are equipped with a reliably sealed gear cover and an automatic glycerin spray lubrication system.
• The drum, a key component of the mill, undergoes computer-based finite element analysis to ensure reliability.
• Large and medium-sized mills are equipped with a slow-speed drive.
• Large and medium-sized mills are equipped with high- and low-pressure lubrication stations.
• The control and protection system utilizes a PLC.
