Knowledge for sheet offset printing ink, web offset printing ink
and UV ink, digital printing ink.
Offset printing ink is used for lithographic offset presses. It is
thick and tacky. Offset printing ink consists 3 parts, the ink
vehicle, the pigment and additives. It can be used on web set
printing and sheet fed printing. Web offset printing ink tend to be
more fluid and have less tack than sheet offset lithographic ink.
UV ink usually means UV-curable ink. UV ink dries faster. So the
presses can run faster and there is led risk of offset. There is
led absorption of ink in the substrate, so colors are more vivid
and glossy. UV ink has lower emissions of organic solvents and it
is more suitable for printing on plastic and other non-porous
substrates.
Digital printing ink is transferred directly onto the surface,
rather than relying on aluminum plate and rubber blanket to
transfer an image. It is liquid ink and quick drying.
What to do for specific color requirements from customers?
Customers sometimes need ink in specific color or ink with specific
characteristics, like drying speed, smell, resistance to fading,
gloss. Customers please send us detailed ink sample or pantone no#
so that we can produce carefully for you.
How to storage offset printing ink?
The ideal process and storage temperature for offset inks is
between 18ºC-25ºC. If the offset inks are too high in viscosity due
to storing at low temperatures problems may occur by insufficient
flow in the duct and picking at sensitive stocks. If the inks will
be processed in higher temperatures, so because of low viscosity
misting, ink/water problems or high sot gain may occur.
The ink cans have to be stored vertically standing under exclusion
of daylight.
Tips before ink processing and after processing.
Do not judge the color of ink by the looking into the package only.
All inks appear in thick layer n the container darker and dirtier
as in the print. You may mistake the black to the blue or red.
You may find bubbles in the ink which is nitrogen mixed in
producing to exclude oxidative drying problems. Do not worry, the
bubbles will disappear on the rolls of the inking unit and will not
lead to printing problems.
During longer print interruptions the rolls have to be cleaned and
ink in the ink duct has to been sprayed on with antioxidant.
Remove skin whenever you find in the opened container regardless
how small the skin is.
Inks which was mixed with printing aids should not filled backed to
the original ink.
Package of our ink.
The normal package is in aluminum can per 1 kg or 2.5 kg, vacuumed
to secure tightly sealing and safe transportation. 6 drums or 12
drums packed in a carton which has partition board to protect and
fix each drum from collision. It is standard package with enough
protective layers and reasonable design.
