Focused Shockwave :Greater Power & Depth for Better Treatment
In Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), a wave is produced by
a small explosion generated underwater inside an applicator. This
wave is focused through a lens and transmitted into the tissue.
Focus Shockwave device electromagnetically generates an
extracorporeal shock wave, which produces a high pressure peak in a
very short amount of time (<2s). This can penetrate deep into
the tissue, up to approximately 4.7"(12cm), with a precise focus on
a small target, For orthopedic treatment
The characteristic of Focus Shockwave Therapy
Focus Shockwave has a smaller focal point for greater accuracy and
a greater treatment depth of up to 12cm. FWST can penetrate deeper
into the tissues and provide maximum power at the designated depth.
Focus Shockwave penetrating depth can also be adjusted by altering
the machine's energy output or by adjusting the focusing mechanism.
This characteristic allows Focus Shockwave to treat targeting
tissue from a superficial level to a deeper level, such as tissue
close to the bone.
What are the differences between Focused and radial shcokwave?
Although both shockwave technologies produce the same therapeutic
effects, a focused shockwave allows for an adjustable depth of
penetration with constant maximum intensity, making the therapy
suitable for treating both superficial and deep-lying tissues.
A radial shockwave allows changing the nature of the shock by using different types of shockwave transmitters. However, the maximum intensity is always concentrated superficially, which makes this therapy suitable for the treatment of superficially lying soft tissues.
RSWT is put right onto the skin itself and waves of pressure are
created along skin surfaces. With FSWT shockwaves and force created
in these machines is transferred to your skin and tissues without
effect, and is focused at a specific desired depth.
radial pressure wave would be a good solution across various indications for tissue and tendons, and even some aesthetic
In general, RSWT opens the possibility to efficiently treat many indications that affect people daily. These include common conditions; such as epicondylitis, plantar fasciitis, calcification in the shoulder, DOMS, and general trigger points.
If you want to work with more advanced indications and pair shockwave with many different types of therapy then the focused shockwave will be the right option. It could be tendinopathies, wound healing, calcifications, neuropathy, fractures, and even urology indications.
When we work with the focus shockwave technology, we can work more precisely in a focal area in comparison to the wider energy delivery in radial pressure waves. We work with stimulation of the cells with specific intensity (mJ/mm2) into a specific depth of the tissue we have decided. That makes it a potent tool in the toolbox of safe, noninvasive technologies.
The focused units have a higher price point than the radial systems, as they give access to more advanced indications and higher turnaround in the clinic, leading to a more significant return on investment in the long run.
The Premium Option
If you want to offer your client a premium setup, better results are seen by combining the two different technologies. They enhance the effect of each other and will give you very few limitations in the various indications you would think of treating.
That is also why most of the leading experts in shockwaves globally do a combination of radial and focus shockwaves.
