Anti-reflective coating patch cord jumper 405-532 nm Customize any wavelength

We offer fiber optic patch cords with an FC/PC or FC/APC connector coated with a permeation enhancement film on one end and an uncoated FC/PC or FC/APC

connector on the other end. Transparency enhancement coatings are designed to reduce the reflection ratio of

when launching a beam from a fiber into free space or coupling a free space beam into a fiber. Depending on the patch cord, the average reflectance of the coated connector is less than 1%, less than 0.75%

or less than 0.5% over the transmissive film frequency range (click on the transmissive film coated reflectance graph below for more information). Each patch cable is supplied with Ø3mm Kevlar reinforced

split tubing. Patchcords are grouped below according to the optimal performance range, with bare fiber overlapping the specified operating wavelength range of the permeation enhancement film.

Feature:
  • Low insertion loss
  • High repeatability and high stability
  • MPO/MTP polarity can be arbitrarily matched
  • Complies with GR326 or IEC61300-2 standards
Application:

Fiber-to-free-space coupling

When light is incident from a fiber into free space, such as when using our fiber collimators and FiberPort collimator/couplers, the return loss

(loss of signal reflecting back to the light source at the glass-air interface at the end of the fiber) will be more severe than the equivalent fiber-to-fiber coupling

method. The return loss on FC/PC connectors can be reduced by ~8 to 10 dB by coating the fiber ends with a permeation enhancing film

and by ~2 to 5 dB on FC/APC connectors. For example, in testing, a typical return loss for a

patch cord with an uncoated connector was ~15 dB (3.16%), while the same patch cord with a permeation-enhanced connector had a return loss of ~24 dB

(0.40%). Transmission enhancement connectors also improve the transmittance of free-space beams when coupled into optical fibers. For more test data,

see the Experimental Observations tab.
