Rubber fenders, also known as rubber handguards, are installed on piers or ships to absorb collision energy between ships and piers or ships when they are docked or moored, and protect ships and piers from damage.

Classification

Generally, rubber fenders can be divided into two categories according to the structure: solid rubber fenders (non-floating type) and floating rubber fenders.

The solid rubber fender (non-floating type) is an anti-collision equipment for dock ships with an earlier application history and a wide range of applications. According to the force of the rubber fender, it can be divided into shear type, rotating type and compression type; according to the structure of the fender, solid rubber fender can be divided into D type, cone, drum, sector, rectangle, cylinder Shaped fenders and so on.

Floating rubber fenders can float freely on the water surface, and can be divided into inflatable rubber fenders and filled rubber fenders according to the different internal buffer media.

The inflatable rubber fender uses compressed air as the medium and uses compressed air to do work to consume collision energy.

Foam-filled fenders are also called solid polyurethane fenders. The cushioning medium inside is mainly closed-cell foam materials, such as foamed EVA, foamed polyurethane, and foamed rubber.
