Three cone drill bit is currently one of the most widely used types of drill bits in the fields of oil and gas drilling, geological exploration, and water well drilling. Its core advantage lies in its adaptability to multiple types of rock formations and efficient crushing ability. With the structural design of "three cone collaborative operation", it can achieve stable drilling under complex geological conditions and is the core tool for construction from shallow to deep wells.

In addition, there are some large-sized three cone drill bits, such as 26 inches (660 mm), 36 inches (914.4 mm), etc., mainly used for some special large-scale engineering or oil drilling projects.
The core advantages are concentrated in three points:
Strong adaptability to geological formations: able to cope with
"heterogeneous formations" (such as a well section with both soft
and hard interlayers), the rolling characteristics of the roller
can be broken through a combination of "crushing+shearing" to avoid
the problem of PDC bits easily collapsing in hard interlayers;
Especially in "extremely hard rock formations" such as gravel
layers and basalt, the durability of three cone drill bits is more
outstanding.
Impact resistance and wear resistance: The roller cone and bearing
system are made of high-strength alloy, which can withstand the
"alternating drilling pressure" and "torque impact" during deep
well operations, and is not easily damaged due to instantaneous
overload; The hard alloy teeth with inlaid teeth can repeatedly
squeeze hard rocks, and a single drill bit can reach a depth of
800-1500 meters (depending on the formation).
Cost and maintenance are controllable: Compared to high-end PDC
drill bits (priced at tens of thousands of yuan), three cone drill
bits have lower costs, and some models can be "repaired and reused"
(replacing worn cones or seals), reducing enterprise procurement
costs; At the same time, its structure is mature, and on-site
troubleshooting (such as roller jamming and seal failure) is
simpler, reducing drilling downtime.
