API 5L PSL1 X52 with coating Welded Steel Pipe used in air conditioning systems
High-frequency welding is the use of continuous contact with the
workpiece surface of the high-frequency current generated by the
heat generated by heating and in the case of the application of
forging force, the workpiece metal to achieve a series of welding
methods. It is similar to ordinary resistance welding, but there
are many important differences.High-frequency welding for carbon
steel pipe production has been 40 years of history. High-frequency
welding has a large power supply, the different materials, caliber
and wall thickness of the steel pipe can achieve a higher welding
speed (higher than the maximum welding speed of welding more than
l0 times).
Therefore, the high-frequency welding production of general-purpose steel pipe has a high productivity because of high-frequency welding speed, to the pipe to remove the burrs difficult, which is the current high-frequency welded steel pipe is not acceptable for the chemical industry, nuclear industry one. From the welding material, high-frequency welding can be welded all types of steel pipe.
ERW pipes are available in sizes between 1/2 and 20 inches, in
carbon steel (ASTM A53 is the most common specification) and
stainless steel (ASTM A312). In terms of dimensions, the ASME
B36.10 and ASME B36.19 are the key reference specifications (API 5L
for welded ERW line pipes).
In the last few years, ERW pipes are have become an efficient
alternative to seamless pipes, both in terms of price and
performance, due to the modern welding technologies adopted by ERW
pipe manufacturers (example HFI and HFW, high-frequency welding).
These advancements in welding technologies have reduced, over time,
the technical superiority of seamless pipes vs ERW pipes, making
them interchangeable at least in some applications (low/medium
pressure and temperature). Of course, seamless pipes will always
benefit from the intrinsic superior mechanical strength of steel
billets vs. coils and plates.
As for ERW pipe, one of the biggest benefits is that only the tube
billet ends are heated during the manufacturing process, therefore
the rest of the whole ERW pipe remains clean and only the welding
part needs to be cleaned. This reduces the post-welding cleaning
work, largely increasing the working efficiency and saving cost.
Besides, owing to the almost clean and smooth surface, ERW pipes
are easy to be applies with coating method.
