An adapted version of the Stevpris Mk5, called ‘ Stevshark’, facilitates performance in hard soils such as limestone, calcarenite, very dense sands and coral. It has identical inherent qualities to the Stevpris Mk5, and its modifications include a stronger construction, shark teeth, sharp fluke edges and fluke tips. Optionally the hollow fluke can be ballasted to assist initial penetration.
There is a new design over this anchor. The fluke of the new designed anchor has large area, and the two sharp teeth of the fluke make the anchor more easily penetrate into the soil, and the depth of penetration is large, and the drag distance required to achieve the maximum grip force is short. The angle between the fluke and the anchor shank is adjustable, 50degrees in very soft clay (sludge), 41degrees in medium hardness clay, and 32degrees in sand and hard mud. The maximum holding capacity in the sludge is up to 311 t (44 times its own weight), the maximum holding force in medium hardness clay is 436 t (62 times its own weight), and the maximum holding force in sand and hard mud is up to 561. t (80 times the weight).
