Glucose oxidase can degrade the β-D-glucose into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide while consuming the oxygen in the gut, resulting in a lower pH in the animal’s intestinal tract, which can inhibit the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria. Also, glucose oxidase consumes oxygen, resulting in an anaerobic environment in the gastrointestinal tract, which is beneficial to the proliferation of anaerobic probiotics and inhibits the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria.
