Reagent grade water (RGW) is water suitable for a particular procedure that does not interfere with the specificity, accuracy and precision of the procedure. Separate process definitions (e.g. "RO", "DI", "distillation") are not by themselves sufficient to define the required water quality. The quantitative parameters associated with attempts to standardise descriptions of water quality vary widely between standards bodies and are constantly changing.
