Precautions
If your cable broke I guarantee you have other parts worn out and
that puts too much stress on the cable. Replacing the cable only
means it will soon break again.
Clean all the dirt and grass from your mower deck, remove the
pulley assembly plate, pulleys, springs etc. Clean and grease where
that plate rubs on the deck and make sure it moves very easily.
There are small cylindrical rollers on sholder bolts that wear out
and stop rolling. They ride against the wavy area on the pulley
plate and serve as detent locations for when the mower is
engage/disengaged. Replace them or the deck will bind up and break
the cable. Check for missing return springs.
