Purpose

Develop latent fingerprint contaminated by grease or on sticky adhesives. Dye the fingerprints developed with superglue.

Specifications

Working principle

Gentian violet is an oil-soluble dye that can adhere to the grease in the fingerprints.

Method

A. Saturate the adhesive surface with the fingerprint with gentian violet solution, or drop the solution onto the adhesive surface with a pipet. After 2 minutes, rinse off the gentian violet solution on the background with water. The gentian violet adheres to the grease in the fingerprints to make the prints dark purple.

B. Use gentian violet solution to saturate the exhibit developed with superglue, or drop the solution onto the exhibit with a pipet. After 2 minutes, rinse off the gentian violet solution on the background with water. The gentian violet penetrates into the superglue e on the fingerprint, and the fingerprint is dyed dark purple.
