PRL Overview

Prolactin is a polypeptide hormone, also called prolactin (PRL), which is one of the hormones secreted by the pituitary gland. It promotes breast hyperplasia, milk production and milk discharge, and also participates in various functions of the body, especially the regulation of reproductive function. The determination of PRL concentration is helpful for the diagnosis of hypothalamic pituitary dysfunction.
