What is 430 series stainless steel?
Type 430 is a ferritic stainless steel with corrosion resistance
approaching that of 304/304L stainless steel. This grade does not
work harden rapidly and can be formed using both mild stretch
forming, bending, or drawing operations.
What is the difference between 201 and 430 stainless steel?
201 is cheaper than 304 and has a better anti-corrosion property
than 430. A lot of work tables in the kitchen are now made of 201.
In an oily environment such as the fryer vat where corrosion is
highly unlikely, 201 is more than adequate.
Is 201 stainless any good?
Its toughness in cold conditions is excellent, too. This grade
offers about 30% better yield strength than, say, 301 stainless
steel (another popular choice) while keeping equal ductility --
allowing designers to reduce heaviness. This is what makes 201
stainless so valuable in certain applications.
