Continuous casting slab, or slab slab, is used as a raw material,
heated by a step heating furnace, dewatered by high-pressure water,
and then put into a rough rolling mill. The rough rolling material
passes through the cutting head and tail and then enters the
finishing mill to carry out computer-controlled rolling. After the
final rolling, it is subjected to laminar cooling
(computer-controlled cooling rate) and coiler winding, which
results in a straight hair roll. The head and tail of the straight
hair roll are often in the shape of a tongue and a fishtail. The
thickness and width are poorly accurate, and the side has frequent
defects such as a wave shape, a folded edge, and a tower shape. The
weight of the coil is heavier, and the inner diameter of the coil
is 760 mm.

Hot-rolled sheet has relatively low strength and poor surface
quality (low oxidation and smoothness), but good plasticity;
generally medium and heavy plate; cold-rolled sheet: high strength,
high hardness, high surface finish, generally thin sheet, can be
used as stamping with the board.
Hot-rolled steel sheet mechanical properties are far less than
those of cold processing, second only to forging, but with good
toughness and ductility.
Heat Resistance:
Grade 430 resists oxidation in intermittent service up to 870°C and
to 815°C in continuous service. This grade may become brittle at
room temperature after prolonged heating in the 400–600 °C range.
This effect can be eliminated by annealing.

Welding
Excellent weldability by all standard fusion and resistance
methods, both with and without filler metals. Heavy welded sections
in Grade 201 require post-weld annealing for maximum corrosion
resistance.
Machining
Stainless steel tends to harden if machined too quickly. For this
reason, low speeds and constant feed rates are recommended.
