PLUG617 LWIR 640x512 / 17μm Uncooled Thermal Camera Module for Security and Monitoring

Product Description

PLUG617 LWIR infrared module is one of the PLUG series that are developed by Global Sensor Technology (GST). The PLUG617 uncooled infrared camera core with a resolution of 640x512 and a pixel size of 17um is an ideal solution for security monitoring applications. This type of camera core offers high-quality thermal imaging capabilities, even in complete darkness or adverse weather conditions.

One of the key advantages of uncooled infrared camera cores is that they do not require a cryogenic cooler, which greatly simplifies the design and reduces the cost of the camera system. This makes uncooled infrared cameras ideal for a wide range of security monitoring applications, including surveillance, perimeter protection, and intrusion detection.

The high-resolution 640x512 sensor and small pixel size of 17um provide exceptional image clarity and detail, allowing even small temperature differences to be detected in the thermal image. This level of detail is essential for security monitoring applications, as it can help identify potential threats or anomalous behavior that might otherwise go undetected.

FAQs

1. What types of infrared detectors are there?

There are several types of infrared detectors, each with its own detection mechanism and operating characteristics. Here are some common types of infrared detectors:

1) Pyroelectric detectors: Pyroelectric detectors are based on the pyroelectric effect, where a change in temperature induces a charge in a material. These detectors are typically used for motion detection in security systems.

2) Thermal detectors: Thermal detectors measure the change in temperature caused by absorption of infrared radiation. The two main types of thermal detectors are:

a. Thermopile detectors: These detectors use a series of thermocouples to detect temperature changes.

b. Microbolometer detectors: These detectors detect temperature changes in an array of tiny resistive elements.

3) Photon detectors: Photon detectors detect individual photons of infrared radiation. Two common types of photon detectors are:

a. Photovoltaic detectors: These detectors generate a voltage when photons are absorbed, which can be measured to obtain an image.

b. Photoconductors: These detectors increase their conductivity when photons are absorbed, which can be measured to obtain an image.

4) Quantum detectors: These detectors use quantum tunneling to detect individual photons. Superconducting infrared detectors are one example of quantum detectors.

The choice of detector depends on the specific application requirements, such as sensitivity, speed of response, spectral range, and operating temperature range.
