A Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor measures the intake manifold pressure. It is typically found on the intake manifold, near or on the throttle body, and sends this data to the Engine Contol Unit (ECU). With this, the ECU is able to determine the correct air-fuel mixture, engine load, fuel injection pulse, and adjust ignition timing accordingly.

MAP sensors are also used to diagnose potential throttle issues, check for a potential vacuum leak on the intake manifold, and converted into air mass data using engine speed and Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor data.
