Description

4.Oxidation, copper easily oxidizes in liquid form to form cuprous oxide, which dissolves in copper liquid. During crystallization, eutectic crystals with lower melting points are generated, which exist at the grain boundaries of copper, reducing plasticity and easily causing cracks.

5.Porosity, high solubility of hydrogen in liquid copper; After solidification, the solubility decreases again. During welding, the weld cools quickly, and excess hydrogen cannot escape in time, forming hydrogen pores. In addition, at high temperatures, cuprous oxide reacts with hydrogen and carbon monoxide to generate water vapor and carbon dioxide. If all of them cannot escape before solidification, pores are also formed.

Argon arc welding is the best welding method for copper and copper alloys, which can protect the molten pool from oxidation and gas dissolution. Heat concentration can reduce deformation and ensure welding penetration.
