PTFE membrane for filtration is composed of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and designed as naturally hydrophobic filter materials that function as a barrier to confine fluids while allowing smooth passage of air and gas. It is a type of micro-porous membrane filter that is typically laminated with polypropylene material. Hydrophobic PTFE membranes can be employed in various medical applications such as vents on intravenous (IV) infusion sets or as antibacterial air filters for transducer protectors. When compared to other types of membrane filters, PTFE venting membranes stand out due to their exceptional combination of hydrophobic, water entry pressure resistance, broad chemical compatibility and oleophobic properties.
