304H stainless steel is a high-carbon version of the widely used austenitic stainless steel grade 304. Here is a description of 304H stainless steel pipes:
Stainless Steel Grade: 304H stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel grade with higher carbon content compared to standard grade 304. The "H" designation stands for high carbon. This higher carbon content provides increased high-temperature strength and improved creep resistance.
Heat Resistance: 304H stainless steel pipes offer excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. They can withstand elevated temperatures up to 870°C (1600°F) in continuous service and up to 925°C (1700°F) in intermittent service. The higher carbon content contributes to the improved high-temperature properties of 304H.
Corrosion Resistance: 304H stainless steel pipes exhibit good corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments. They offer resistance to atmospheric corrosion, as well as to many corrosive chemicals and acids encountered in industrial applications. However, the corrosion resistance may be slightly lower compared to the low carbon grades like 304L due to the higher carbon content.
High-Temperature Strength: 304H stainless steel pipes retain their strength and mechanical properties even at high temperatures. This makes them suitable for applications in high-temperature environments, such as heat exchangers, boiler components, and exhaust systems.
Weldability: 304H stainless steel pipes are readily weldable using common welding techniques. However, preheating and post-weld heat treatment may be required to minimize the risk of carbide precipitation and sensitization, which can lead to intergranular corrosion. It is important to follow recommended welding practices to maintain the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the material.
Applications: 304H stainless steel pipes are used in various industries, including power generation, chemical processing, oil and gas, and heat treatment. They are suitable for applications requiring high-temperature strength, such as furnace components, heat exchangers, and exhaust systems.
It is important to note that 304H stainless steel is not
recommended for applications where sensitization can occur, such as
in environments containing high concentrations of chlorides. For
such applications, low carbon grades like 304L or stabilized grades
like 321 may be more appropriate. When selecting stainless steel
pipes, consulting with manufacturers or suppliers can provide
specific information on the product's compliance with relevant
standards and its suitability for your specific application
requirements.
According to different uses, the requirements for various
properties of stainless steel pipes are different, such as acid and
alkali corrosion resistance, intergranular corrosion resistance and
stress corrosion cracking performance, pitting resistance, climate
corrosion resistance, high temperature and oxidation resistance.
For use in high temperature environment, it is also required to
have satisfactory high temperature persistent strength, durable
plasticity, creep resistance and aging stability.

Plant, Fushun Steel Plant, Daye Special Steel Co., LTD., Chengdu
Seamless Steel Plant, although the specific process equipment of
each production facility is different. However, its production
process is mainly divided into hot-rolled seamless stainless steel
pipe production process, cold-working seamless stainless steel pipe
production process and hot-extruded seamless stainless steel pipe
production process.
