Battery auxiliary material detection
Test background
Electrode binder is one of the important auxiliary functional
materials in lithium-ion batteries. Although it has no capacity and
accounts for a small proportion in the battery, it is the main
source of the mechanical properties of the entire electrode and has
an important impact on the production process of the electrode and
the electrochemical properties of the battery.
Lithium-ion battery binder is a polymer compound whose main
function is to connect the electrode active material, conductive
agent and electrode current collector to make them have overall
connectivity, thereby reducing the impedance of the electrode and
making the electrode sheet have good mechanical properties and
processability.
Requirements for battery electrode binders
An ideal lithium-ion battery electrode binder should have the
following properties:
● Good solubility, fast dissolution speed, and high solubility;
● Safe, environmentally friendly, and non-toxic solvents, with
water being the best solvent;
● Large molecular weight and small amount of binder;
● Moderate viscosity, easy to homogenize and maintain slurry
stability;
● Strong bonding force, and high peeling strength of the prepared
electrode;
● Stable electrochemical properties, no redox reaction within the
working voltage;
● Resistant to electrolyte corrosion;
● With a certain degree of flexibility, it can withstand the
bending of the electrode and the volume change of the active
material particles;
● Good conductivity and lithium ion conductivity;
● Wide source and low cost.
