Basic PositioningThis solenoid valve is a core component of the Volkswagen Group’s
intake manifold switching system. It controls the opening and
closing of the intake manifold flap via vacuum drive, optimizing
the engine’s air intake efficiency at different speeds to enhance
power output and fuel economy.
2. Application Scope
1) Vehicle CoverageVolkswagen: Passat B6 (2006-2010), Passat B7 (2011-2015), Golf MK5
GTI (2006-2009), Golf MK6 GTI (2010-2014), Tiguan Gen 1
(2009-2011), Tiguan Gen 2 (2012-2018), CC (2009-2017), etc.
Audi: A4 B8 (2008-2016), A5 B8 (2008-2012), Q5 8R (2008-2016), etc.
2) Engine Models1.8T/2.0T TSI: Volkswagen EA888 Gen1/Gen2 (e.g., Volkswagen
CAEB/CAED engines), Audi 2.0TFSI (e.g., Audi CAEB/CAED engines).
Note: Only compatible with intake manifold systems driven by
mechanical vacuum pumps. The 3rd-generation EA888 (Gen3) and
subsequent models are not applicable due to design changes.
3. Core Functions & Roles1) Dynamic Air Intake ControlLow speed (<3000 rpm): The flap closes to extend the air intake
path, enhance airflow inertia, and increase torque output (e.g.,
more power during startup or uphill driving).
High speed (>3000 rpm): The flap opens to shorten the air intake
path, reduce resistance, and improve maximum power (e.g., smoother
performance during high-speed overtaking).
2) Practical Performance OptimizationPower response: Improves insufficient low-speed torque, making
acceleration more linear.
Fuel consumption: Reduces engine energy loss by precisely adjusting
air intake volume.
Carbon deposit prevention: Stabilized airflow reduces the risk of
carbon deposits in valves and manifolds (especially for the common
issue of EA888 engines).
4. Fault Symptoms & Impacts1) Common SymptomsEngine jitter, weak acceleration, and unstable idle speed.
Malfunction indicator light (MIL) illuminates (e.g., P2015 fault
code for intake manifold position sensor).
Some models may be accompanied by P0491/P0492 fault codes
(insufficient flow in the secondary air injection system...
