When constructing with polyethylene stucco tape, there are many precautions, covering aspects such as construction environment, surface treatment, tape operation, and post - construction maintenance. The details are as follows:
Requirements for Construction Environment
Temperature
The construction environment temperature should be maintained
between 5℃ and 35℃. If the temperature is too high, the viscosity
of the tape may be excessive, making it difficult to operate during
construction and likely to leave adhesive residues on the wall. If
the temperature is too low, the tape will become hard and brittle,
reducing its flexibility and adhesion, resulting in poor adhesion.
Humidity
The air humidity should be less than 80%, and the construction
surface needs to be dry. Excessive humidity will prevent the tape
from adhering well to the surface. At the same time, it may affect
the drying and curing process of the stucco, thus affecting the
bonding force between the tape and the stucco.
Surface Treatment for Construction
Cleaning
Before construction, tools such as brooms, rags, or blowers should
be used to thoroughly remove impurities such as dust, oil stains,
water stains, and loose particles from the construction surface.
These impurities will prevent the tape from closely adhering to the
surface, reducing the adhesion and sealing effect of the tape.
Leveling
Ensure that the construction surface is flat and smooth. For uneven
or cracked surfaces, they need to be repaired and sanded first. An
uneven surface will cause the tape to have bubbles, wrinkles, or
local poor adhesion during the pasting process.
Tape Construction Operations
Cutting
Measure the size of the construction part with a ruler and cut the
tape into an appropriate length using scissors or a utility knife.
When cutting, ensure that the edges are neat and avoid jagged or
uneven edges, so as not to affect the aesthetics and sealing
effect.
Pasting
Start from one end and slowly and evenly paste the tape to the
intended position. While pasting, gently press the tape with your
fingers or a squeegee to make it fully contact the surface,
expelling the air between the tape and the surface. Ensure firm
adhesion and avoid air bubbles or wrinkles. For longer pasting
areas, it is recommended that two people work together to ensure
the straightness and tightness of the tape pasting.
Treatment of Corners and Curves
When encountering corners such as wall corners, door and window
frames, or curved areas, carefully bend the tape to fit. You can
pre - bend the tape in these areas in advance so that the tape
adapts to the curved shape before pasting, ensuring that the tape
can closely adhere to the corners without leaving any gaps.
Post - Construction Maintenance
Inspection
After the construction is completed, carefully inspect the pasting
of the tape to ensure that all areas that need to be sealed or
masked are completely covered, and the tape edges are tightly
adhered to the surface without lifting, loosening, or gaps. If
there are any problems, timely repair or re - paste.
