42CrMo Gear Shaft Customer Industrial Gear Shaft For Rotating Part
Gear shaft refers to a mechanical part that supports a rotating
part and rotates with it to transmit motion, torque, or bending
moment.
The gear shaft is mainly subjected to alternating loads, impact
loads, large shear stress, and contact stress. The shaft is prone
to cracks and the teeth are prone to wear. Therefore, the core of
the gear shaft is required to have a certain strength and
toughness, a high fatigue limit, and the ability to resist multiple
impacts. The surface should also have a certain hardness and wear
resistance.
Classification of gear shafts:
According to the different shapes of the axis, the shaft can be
divided into two categories: crankshaft and straight shaft.
According to the load-bearing conditions of the shaft, it can be
divided into:
① Rotating shaft: It bears both bending moment and torque during
operation. It is the most common shaft in machinery, such as the
shafts in various reducers.
② Spindle: It is used to support rotating parts and only bears
bending moment without transmitting torque. Some spindles rotate,
such as the shafts of railway vehicles, and some spindles do not
rotate, such as the shafts supporting pulleys.
③ Transmission shaft: It is mainly used to transmit torque without
bearing bending moment, such as the long optical shaft in the crane
moving mechanism and the drive shaft of the car.
42CrMo:
1. 42CrMo steel is an ultra-high-strength steel with high strength
and toughness, good hardenability, no obvious temper brittleness,
high fatigue limit and multiple impact resistance after quenching
and tempering, and good low-temperature impact toughness.
2. 42CrMo is an alloy steel used for shafts and structural parts
under harsh conditions.
3. 42CrMo is a medium carbon alloy steel. The preliminary heat
treatment is normalizing. The main purpose is to obtain a certain
hardness and optimize the internal structure to facilitate the
cutting of the steel billet and prepare the organization for
quenching and tempering.
Gear shaft processing technology:
1. Blank cutting
2. Rough turning
3. Tempering treatment (improve the toughness of the gear shaft and
the rigidity of the shaft)
4. Finish turning the gear blank to size
5. If there is a keyway on the shaft, the keyway can be processed
first
6. Gear hobbing
7. Medium frequency quenching of the tooth surface (high frequency
quenching for small gears), quenching hardness HRC48-58 (the
specific hardness value needs to be determined according to working
conditions, load and other factors)
8. Gear grinding
9. Final inspection of the finished product.
