A three cone drill bit is assembled and welded from three cones,
each with its own axis. When the drill bit rolls at the bottom of
the hole, the axes of these three cones intersect with each other,
forming a revolution motion. At the same time, each tooth wheel
rotates around its own axis. This composite motion of revolution
and rotation enables the drill bit to effectively cut and break in
the formation.
