If the main valve is large and cannot be opened directly, this design will use the inlet pressure to open the main valve. As a result, this type of pressure reducing valve offers higher capacity and accuracy (+/-5%) at the same pipe size compared to direct-acting pressure reducing valves. The same as the direct-acting pressure reducing valve, the pressure reducing valve is internally sensed without the need for external installation of the sensor line.
