However, more effects can be achieved by combining different contours of the same material, such as using a wider diameter or all horizontally oriented elements, or using square lines in one direction and circular lines in the other. Combining different metals is another possibility. Decorative wire mesh can even be used in combination with metal (such as plastic and leather) using other materials.

Aluminum wire mesh is resistant to atmospheric corrosion, affordable, and has a variety of surface treatment options, making it a good candidate for many applications. When weight and corrosion resistance are the main concerns, aluminum is an excellent choice for wire mesh.

Note when specifying aluminum decorative wire mesh:

The elastic modulus of aluminum is relatively low. Compared with steel wire mesh, aluminum wire mesh will suffer a higher degree of deformation under the same load. Therefore, the physical characteristics of the combination of aluminum mesh spacing and diameter will not be comparable to that of the same steel mesh. To maintain the rigidity required for a particular application, a slight increase in wire diameter is recommended.
