Honda announced on October 9 that the CR-V SUV, which is expanding globally, has celebrated its 30th anniversary since the first model was announced in 1995.

CR-V stands for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle" and was born in Japan in 1995 as an innovative model that combines comfort and high mobility. Based on the concept of "creative movers" that support people's creation of new lives, the first generation model pioneered a new genre of urban SUVs that combine ease of handling in cities, ease of use, and comfort.

In July 2024, the CR-V launched the CR-V e:FCEV, the first fuel cell vehicle to be released by a Japan automaker with a plug-in function that can be charged externally.

Cumulative global sales reached 15 million units in August 2025. In the last 10 years (2015~2024), it has sold the largest number of Honda's four-wheeled models, and has grown into an important model representing Honda's SUV lineup.

In 2022, the new CR-V, which will be the sixth generation, will be released. It is an SUV characterized by a comfortable interior space and powerful driving with two motors, and is said to have been well received by many users, mainly in North America and China. It is also scheduled to be released in Japan, and at the Honda booth at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, a prototype of the "CR-V e:HEV" will be exhibited ahead of its launch in Japan.
