Key Features of CuNi19 NC025 Wire:

  • Composition

Copper (Cu): Approximately 81%, providing excellent electrical and thermal conductivity.

Nickel (Ni): Approximately 19%, enhancing resistance to corrosion and improving the alloy's mechanical properties.

  • Corrosion Resistance

CuNi19 has excellent resistance to seawater, making it ideal for marine environments.

It is also resistant to general corrosion and can withstand exposure to many acids, alkalis, and industrial chemicals, particularly in neutral and mildly acidic environments.

  • Mechanical Properties

The alloy offers a good balance of strength and ductility, making it easy to form and shape for various applications.

It exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking, which makes it suitable for use in harsh chemical environments.

  • Thermal and Electrical Conductivity

CuNi19 retains good thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, though not as high as pure copper.

It maintains its performance in both high and low temperatures, making it useful in a variety of industrial applications.

  • Non-Magnetic Properties

The alloy is non-magnetic, which can be beneficial in certain applications where magnetic interference needs to be avoided.

  • Weldability and Fabrication

CuNi19 is easy to weld and can be formed into various shapes, including wire, sheet, and tubing.

It is also easily machinable and is often used in manufacturing components like fittings, valves, and fasteners.

Applications

  • Marine Applications: Due to its excellent resistance to corrosion in seawater, CuNi19 is often used in marine hardware, heat exchangers, and offshore equipment.
  • Chemical Processing: Used in equipment exposed to aggressive chemicals or environments.
  • Heat Exchangers: Often used in heat exchangers, where resistance to both high temperatures and corrosive environments is crucial.
  • Electrical Contacts and Connectors: Its good electrical conductivity makes it suitable for electrical contacts, connectors, and terminals.
  • Pipelines: Suitable for use in underwater pipelines, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
  • Automotive Components: Common in various automotive applications where corrosion resistance is important.

Resilience in Extreme Environments

  • CuNi19 performs well in high-temperature environments (up to approximately 250°C or 482°F) and can withstand temperature fluctuations and extreme environmental conditions.

Advantages of CuNi19 NC025 Wire:

  • Corrosion Resistance: Excellent performance in seawater, chemicals, and many industrial environments.
  • Strength and Toughness: High mechanical properties allow it to withstand mechanical stresses while maintaining formability.
  • Non-Magnetic: Ideal for applications that require non-magnetic materials.
  • Good Fabrication Properties: Easy to work with in manufacturing processes like welding, machining, and forming.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for a broad range of industries, from marine and chemical processing to electrical and automotive industries.

Limitations:

  • Cost: Copper-nickel alloys like CuNi19 can be more expensive than pure copper or other materials due to the nickel content.
  • Lower Electrical Conductivity than Pure Copper: While it maintains good electrical conductivity, CuNi19 does not perform as well as pure copper in highly demanding electrical applications.
  • Strength vs. Pure Copper: The higher strength comes at the cost of reduced conductivity when compared to pure copper, which may limit its use in highly specialized applications where maximum conductivity is required.
