Industrial Winding Copper Nickel Alloy Wire CuNi30 NC035 For Electronics

CuNi30 is a copper-nickel alloy composed of approximately 70% copper and 30% nickel, with trace amounts of other elements like iron and manganese. This alloy is known for its excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in marine environments and seawater. Due to its high nickel content, CuNi30 provides outstanding resistance to rust, oxidation, and biofouling, making it ideal for applications in shipbuilding, offshore structures, and seawater cooling systems.

In addition to its superior corrosion resistance, CuNi30 also offers good mechanical strength, making it suitable for components that need to withstand high stresses, such as piping, valves, and heat exchangers. It has good thermal conductivity and is resistant to erosion and cavitation, which is critical for marine hardware like propellers and pumps exposed to turbulent water flow.

CuNi30 is non-magnetic, a desirable property for electrical components where magnetic interference must be minimized. It is highly workable, meaning it can be easily machined, welded, and formed into complex shapes for a variety of industrial and marine applications.

Some key features of CuNi30 include:

1. Outstanding Corrosion Resistance

  • CuNi30 offers exceptional resistance to corrosion, particularly in seawater, making it ideal for marine environments. It resists both saltwater corrosion and biofouling, which are common challenges in applications like offshore structures, shipbuilding, and seawater cooling systems.

2. High Nickel Content for Enhanced Durability

  • The high nickel content (30%) contributes to the alloy's excellent corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, and improved mechanical properties compared to pure copper. This makes it suitable for use in environments where durability and long-term performance are critical.

3. Good Mechanical Strength

  • CuNi30 possesses strong tensile strength and mechanical integrity, allowing it to withstand significant stress and mechanical forces. This makes it suitable for structural components, piping systems, and marine hardware that require strength and durability under harsh conditions.

4. Excellent Resistance to Erosion and Cavitation

  • The alloy is highly resistant to erosion and cavitation, which are especially important in marine applications where components like propellers, pumps, and valves are exposed to turbulent water flow.

5. Thermal Conductivity

  • While not as conductive as pure copper, CuNi30 has good thermal conductivity, making it useful in heat exchangers, cooling systems, and other applications where heat dissipation is important.

6. Non-Magnetic

  • CuNi30 is non-magnetic, which is a valuable property for electrical components and sensitive instrumentation where magnetic fields could interfere with operation. This makes it useful in electronic devices and marine instrumentation.

7. Good Workability and Fabrication

  • CuNi30 is easily formable, weldable, and machinable, making it ideal for creating a wide range of components such as pipes, valves, fittings, and marine hardware. It can be drawn into wires, rolled into sheets, or fabricated into complex shapes without losing its structural properties.

8. Resistant to High Temperatures

  • The alloy has good high-temperature stability, retaining its strength and performance in environments subject to thermal stress, such as gas turbines or industrial heating systems.

9. Electrical Properties

  • While CuNi30 is not as conductive as pure copper, it retains adequate electrical conductivity for use in electrical contacts, resistors, and other components where corrosion resistance is more critical than maximum conductivity.

Applications:

  • Marine: Seawater cooling systems, shipbuilding, offshore rigs, propellers, and marine pumps.
  • Industrial: Heat exchangers, piping systems, fittings, and valves in corrosive or high-temperature environments.
  • Electrical: Electrical contacts, resistors, and marine instrumentation.
  • Aerospace & Automotive: High-temperature components, heat shields, and gas turbines.
