Detailes of ASME SA179 Base Tubes ( Generally with min. wall thickness )


ASME SA179 This specification covers minimum-wall-thickness, seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes for tubular heat exchangers, condensers, and similar heat transfer apparatus.


Manufacture: Tubes shall be made by the seamless process and shall be cold drawn.

Heat Treatment: Tubes shall be heat treated after the final cold draw pass at a temperature of 1200°F [650°C] or higher.

Surface Condition: Finished tubes shall be free of scale. A slight amount of oxidation will not be considered as scale.

Hardness Requirements: The tubes shall have a hardness number not exceeding 72 HRB.

Embedded G Finned Tubes


Embedded G fin tubes, also known as G-type finned tubes, are a type of extended surface fin tube used in various heat transfer applications.The fins are mechanically embedded into a groove that is plowed into the outer diameter (O.D.) of the base tube. This groove is typically about 0.4 mm deep.The fin strip, usually made of aluminum or copper, is tension-wound and placed into the groove. The bottom of the fin is then guided into the groove and backfilled with the base tube material to ensure a firm lock.


Processing technology: the fins are tightly embedded in the outer surface of the mechanically slotted base tube;
Base pipe material: carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex steel, copper pipe;
Fin: Aluminum 1060, aluminum 1100, T2 copper;
Application: air cooler, heat exchanger, heater, radiator economizer (Suitable for high temperature environment, limit temperature 350℃).
