Product introduction:
Thinkbond 45 series adhesive is a highly reactive thermosetting
bonding agent engineered for superior adhesion between TPU/CPU and
diverse substrates. Optimized for demanding industrial applications
requiring extreme durability and dynamic load resistance.

Application:

Applying Thinkbond:
Agitation: We recommend stir Thinkbond 942 before the application to avoid
settle down.
Brushing: Application by brushing is normally undertaken without further
dilution, but for coating large areas, dilution with MEK (or the
diluent blend shown below) improves flow and speed of application.
Spraying: We recommend an HVLP gun using 1.5 Bar air-pressure and a nozzle
size of 1 -1.5mm. For this application we recommend diluting
between 50 and 100% v/v.
Roller coating: Dilute to 35 - 45 seconds on a DIN 4 or Ford 4 cup at 25 C for
most roller application processes. Dilution with a high boiling
solvent like MPA may be necessary to achieve the best finish and to
reduce the skinning of the bonding agent in the applicator.
Drying: Dry the film between 10 and 30 minutes at room temperature. If it
is necessary to reduce drying time, we recommend to use forced air
for 5 minutes at 100ºC maximum. Do not use in this stage
temperatures above 100ºC to avoid adhesive pre-cure. After this
process, follow to cure.
Thickness of application layer:
The film obtained by applying Thinkbond 942 is colorless.
The layer thickness must be between 15 and 25 µm.
For severe environments or dynamic fatigue applications, use ≧25
microns. Under these conditions it is possible to achieve bonds
with no edge-failure after 400 hour salt-spray tests
Parts with Thinkbond 942 already applied can be stored for 30 days
prior to cure.
Storage:
Keep container tightly closed during storage and always keep away
from heat sources. Store in an environment below 10ºC increases the
shelf life of the adhesive.
