Cross-Flow Closed Cooling Tower
Cross-flow overview
Cross-flow closed cooling tower is named because the spray water
and hot air are in the horizontal direction. The spray water flows
from top to bottom, and the wind enters horizontally from the side,
passing through the middle of the heat exchanger coil,
cross-exchanging heat with the falling spray water, reducing the
spray water temperature.
It is mainly composed of heat exchange coil, spray water system,
exhaust system, frame shell
Working Process
The spray pump draws water from the water tank and pumps it to the
upper part of the heat exchange coil. It sprays in an umbrella
shape through the nozzle and covers the outer surface of the pipe
continuously and evenly, forming a thin water film. Part of the
water absorbs the heat energy of the high-temperature refrigerant
in the pipe, converts it into latent heat of vaporization,
evaporates into gas, and the refrigerant inside the pipe cools down
or condenses into liquid. The unevaporated spray water falls back
to the spray water tank; the exhaust system, the tower top fan is
suction type, exhausts air from the tower to the outside, and the
cold and dry air outside the tower enters the heat exchanger coil
from the side, takes away the evaporated water vapor, and the air
humidity and temperature are increased. It is extracted out of the
tower by the fan between the two heat exchange coils.
A float valve is installed in the spray water tank. When the water
level is low, the supply is automatically replenished to ensure a
certain water level in the tank;
Operation principle
Internal circulation water system: The circulating water cooled in
the coil flows out from the tower body and is sent to the heat
source (cooled equipment) by the system circulating water pump. The
circulating water heated by heat exchange enters the coil for
cooling.
External circulation water system: After the external spray water
cools the circulating water inside the coil by contacting with the
coil and the filler, it falls into the lower water tank and is sent
to the spray water tank by the spray water pump for recirculation
The internal circulating cooled water exchanges heat and mass with
the spray water and air outside the tube through the coil, avoiding
water pollution caused by direct contact between the cooled water
and the air. Since the spray water is pre-cooled by the PVC filler,
its heat exchange effect is more obvious.
