Product Description:
Hex Bolts: Applications and Advantages
Hex bolts are widely used across various industries and products due to their simple design, high strength, and ease of installation. Below are some key applications and advantages of hex bolts:
Industries and Products That Use Hex Bolts
1. Construction Industry
- Hex bolts are commonly used in structural steel connections, such
as bridges, building frameworks, and scaffolding. Their ability to
handle heavy loads and external forces like wind ensures stability
and durability in construction projects.
2. Machinery Manufacturing
- In machinery and equipment assembly, hex bolts are essential for
fastening mechanical parts in machinery such as lathes, heavy-duty
equipment, and assembly lines. Their high strength and durability
make them suitable for machines operating under vibration and heavy
loads.
3. Automotive and Transportation
- Hex bolts are widely used in the automotive industry for securing
critical parts like chassis, engines, and transmission systems.
Their strength and reliability help maintain the vehicle's
integrity under high-speed and heavy-duty conditions.
4. Home Appliances and Electronics
- Hex bolts are used to assemble and secure parts in appliances
such as air conditioners, washing machines, and televisions. They
provide reliable connections and ensure the overall stability of
the products.
5. Energy and Petrochemical Industry
- Hex bolts are crucial in wind turbines, nuclear power plants, and
petrochemical plants, where they are used in securing large
equipment and pipeline systems. Their corrosion resistance and
strength allow them to perform in harsh environments.
6. Marine and Offshore Engineering
- In shipbuilding and offshore platforms, hex bolts are used to
secure deck fittings, hulls, and equipment. Stainless steel hex
bolts, in particular, resist corrosion from seawater, ensuring the
longevity of marine structures.
7. Furniture Manufacturing
-Hex bolts are frequently used in the assembly of furniture such as
beds, tables, chairs, and cabinets. Their easy installation and
firm fastening provide stability and long-term durability to
household and office furniture.
Applications
Cadmium plating is widely used to protect steel and cast iron from
corrosion. Cadmium plating is used to protect the inner metal, and
since cadmium is an anode with respect to iron, the ferrous metal
underneath it and even the bare substrate when the cadmium is
strained or etched out of the cracks are protected by the
consumption of cadmium plates. Usually cadmium is applied as a thin
layer (less than 25μm or 1mil thick) to resist atmospheric
corrosion. Cadmium in the marine atmosphere or seawater contact
parts and in the hot water above 70 ℃, cadmium plating is more
stable, corrosion resistance, so cadmium plating is often used in
the marine environment using the plating.
Cadmium is a silver-white malleable metal. Cadmium metal is easy to
forge and rolling. Cadmium's relative atomic mass is 112.41,
density is 8.65g/cm3, melting point is 320.9 ℃, boiling point is
767 ℃. Cadmium exists as a divalent metal in compounds. Its
hardness is 200 HV.Cadmium's chemical properties are very similar
to zinc, but it is insoluble in alkali, soluble in nitric acid and
ammonium nitrate, and dissolves very slowly in dilute sulfuric acid
and dilute hydrochloric acid. At room temperature and dry air,
almost no chemical change, but in the humid air cadmium is easy to
oxidise, the formation of oxide film can protect the metal cadmium
no longer continue to be corroded.
Cadmium vapour and soluble cadmium salts are toxic and must be
strictly prevented from cadmium pollution. The standard potential
of cadmium is -0.4 V. In the general industrial atmosphere, cadmium
plating on steel parts is cathodic plating, but in the maritime
climate, seawater or high temperature environment, cadmium plating
on steel parts is anodic plating. When the working temperature
exceeds 232 ℃ above, cadmium plating is easy to cause parts
brittle.
Cadmium plating is commonly used in aviation, navigation, radio and
electronic parts of the protection.
Domestic production of cadmium plating solution used in more types:
ammonia carboxyl complex cadmium plating, acid sulfate cadmium
plating and cyanide cadmium plating. In addition, there are
pyrophosphate cadmium plating, alkaline triethanolamine cadmium
plating and HEDP cadmium plating.
Cadmium chemical properties and galvanised layer is similar, in the humid air surface can generate a layer of alkaline carbonate film, has a certain protective effect, can protect the cadmium layer so that it does not continue to be corroded. Cadmium and zinc plating, often on steel, especially high-strength steel parts prone to ‘hydrogen embrittlement’, but cadmium plating than zinc plating tendency to produce hydrogen embrittlement smaller. Therefore, low hydrogen embrittlement cadmium plating is usually used as an important protection method for structural steel, high-strength steel and spring steel parts. However, after plating, it is still necessary to carry out rigorous dehydrogenation treatment, or other more effective anti-hydrogen penetration measures.
