A 24-fiber splice tray is a fundamental component in fiber optic
networks designed for the organization, protection, and management
of spliced optical fibers. It is a critical element within
closures, cabinets, and optical distribution frames (ODFs).
Its core function is to house and protect up to 48 individual
fusion splices. It provides a structured pathway for organizing
incoming and outgoing fiber ribbons or loose tubes.

Key Features of Fiber Splice Tray
Its core function is to house and protect up to 24 individual
fusion splices. It securely holds the splice sleeves (or
protectors) in dedicated slots, shielding the fragile fusion points
from mechanical stress, dust, and moisture.
It provides a structured pathway for organizing incoming and
outgoing fiber ribbons or loose tubes. Features like guides,
spools, and radius limiters ensure fibers are bent gently, always
maintaining a bend radius greater than the minimum specification
(typically >37.5mm) to prevent signal loss (attenuation) and
fiber damage.
The tray is designed with specific areas to coil and store the
slack (excess length) of fiber that is essential for future
maintenance, re-splicing, or testing operations. This prevents
fibers from being tangled or damaged.
The 48-fiber capacity is often achieved through a stackable or
multi-layer design (e.g., 6 layers of 8 fibers). This modularity
allows for high-density packing in a limited space while keeping
individual fibers organized and easily identifiable.
It is engineered to be easily mounted inside various outside plant
(OSP) and indoor equipment, such as:
Fiber Distribution Hubs (FDHs) / Cabinets: Points for signal
distribution in FTTx networks.
Optical Distribution Frames (ODFs): Central termination points in
data centers and central offices.
Splice Closures: Airtight containers for outdoor aerial,
underground, or buried applications.
