DIN968 Self Tapping Screw Standard
DIN968 is a standard for cross groove pan head self tapping screws developed by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). These screws are commonly used for fastening connections between metal sheets and non-metallic materials.
The groove type of DIN968 standard self tapping screws is either H-type or Z-type, with the tail being a pointed tail (C-type) or a flat tail (F-type). This design is particularly suitable for self tapping into hard materials.The head of the screw is structured as a Pan Head with gaskets, and the diameter specifications range from ST2.9 to ST6.3.

Self tapping screws from DIN968 are commonly manufactured using carbon steel (with surface galvanized or nickel-plated) and stainless steel (specifically SUS304 for corrosion resistance). The carbon steel variant with a grade of 8.8 possesses a tensile strength of at least 400 MPa, while the stainless steel version of grade A2-70 requires a strength rating of at least 700 MPa.
These screws adhere to international equivalent standards that align with the technical specifications outlined in ISO 7049, ensuring uniformity and consistency in their quality and performance.
