The main function of the drill tool stabilizer in oil, gas and geological exploration drilling projects is to reduce the violent radial and axial vibration of the drill pipe column elastic system in the hole; reduce the eccentric wear of the drill bit and drill pipe; ensure the quality of coring; prevent well deviation or manual directional drilling. The structure of the stabilizer is relatively simple, which is a thick-diameter joint with ribs (straight or spiral). The stabilizer can be divided into drill column type and bottom hole type. The wear-resistant materials on the working surface of the stabilizer include surface embedded carbide columns, surface embedded diamond composites, surface low-temperature brazed carbide blocks and other forms.

1. Control the borehole trajectory: The stabilizer mainly plays a guiding and straightening role in the drilling tool assembly. The installation position of the stabilizer controls the well inclination angle and the wellbore curvature within the specified range, and also makes most of the weight of the drill collar concentrated on the drill bit, reducing the non-wellbore center force and other external forces borne by the drill string and the drill bit. With the development of stabilizers and the large-scale exploitation of horizontal wells and directional wells, stabilizers have become an indispensable bottom hole drilling tool in modern wellbore trajectory control technology.
2. Hole expansion function: In curved wellbores or wellbore reductions, it drills with the drill string, and the chamfer at the transition between its lower end body and the working section plays a certain hole expansion role.
3. Well wall trimming: In the process of friction contact between the stabilizer and the well wall, the well wall has different degrees of trimming effect, making the well wall smoother and flatter, and improving the quality of the well body.
