A custom dovetail milling cutter made from tungsten carbide is a specialized cutting tool designed for machining precise dovetail grooves or undercuts in materials like steel, aluminum, titanium, or hardened alloys.

1. Material & Hardness


  • Tungsten Carbide (Uncoated):

    • High hardness (~90-94 HRA) for wear resistance.

    • Better heat resistance than HSS but may generate more friction than coated tools.

    • Ideal for applications where coatings could interfere (e.g., non-ferrous metals, graphite, or when a polished edge is needed).


2. Dovetail Geometry


  • Standard Angles: 45°, 60°, or 90° (custom angles available).

  • Cutting Edge Profile:

    • Sharp, uncoated edges for clean cuts in aluminum, brass, or plastics.

    • Optional polished flutes for improved chip evacuation in gummy materials.


3. Tool Dimensions (Customizable)


  • Diameter (D): 3mm–25mm (or larger, depending on shank).

  • Shank Diameter: Matches tool diameter or undersized for clearance.

  • Flute Count:
